(26 Jul 2016) North Korea will be in the spotlight in the Lao capital Vientiane on Tuesday as the regional security forum, the ARF, commences its annual meeting.
Despite the apparent camaraderie of the group photo opportunities, Pyongyang's new Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho is an isolated figure, due to his government's continuing testing of ballistic missiles and nuclear devices.
Already under heavy United Nations sanctions, North Korea came under further heavy fire earlier on Tuesday when US Secretary of State John Kerry said it was important the meeting sent a clear message that they would face "real consequences" for their actions.
The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Regional Forum purpose is to foster constructive dialogue and consultation on regional political and security matters, according to the ASEAN secretariat.
