STORYLINE:
Heavy fighting continued on Wednesday in the devastated city of Bakhmut, where Ukrainian troops are fending off Russian attacks.
The battle-scarred strategic city has become a symbol of resistance, as well as a focal point of the war.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed Bakhmut with top military officials this week, according to the presidential office.
They were unanimous in their determination to face down the Russian onslaught, according to the statement by the office.
