In Conversation with Prof. Joan Muysken
Prof. dr. Joan Muysken will be given emeritus status on December 1, 2013.
He will deliver his valedictory speech (partially in Dutch) on November 29, 2013 at 4 PM in the auditorium of Minderbroedersberg 4-6. The title of his speech is: "From Reaganomics tot Eurocrisis: 30 jaren in Maastricht".
Joan Muysken is Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Maastricht University, where he teaches macroeconomics and labour economics. He obtained his PhD from the University of Groningen on the aggregation of production functions.
He was a Visiting Researcher at the University of Oslo in 1980 (January-March) and in 1983 (January-August) he stayed at the SUNY Buffalo (USA) as an Assistant Professor. He was a Visiting Professor at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) from January-July 1989; at the University of Newcastle, Australia (November-December 1995 and March-April 2000); at the ZEW, Mannheim during March 2000; and at the WZB, Berlin during May 2000.
Joan Muysken's research interests include endogenous growth and diffusion of technologies, skill mismatch, job competition, analysis of unemployment. His latest book (written together with William Mitchell) - Full Employment Abandoned: Shifting Sands and Policy Failures - investigates the shift of governments focus away from full employment towards full employability.
