4K Walking Tour | BRAGA | Portugal
The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte is just 2miles up the hill outside the city of Braga. The name means "Good Jesus of the Mount." In 2019, the Santuary was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is also known as a Christian pilgrimage site. This shrine has a monumental Baroque stairway that climbs 116 meters (381 ft.). In 1882, a water funicular was built to facilitate ease of access to the sanctuary up on the hill. This was the first funicular built in the Iberian Peninsula. At the bottom there is a bus to take you to and from Braga city center. Braga is nicknamed "the city that prays", boasting four dozen places of worship. The sites that are highlighted in this video are: Praca da Republica (park), Jardim de Santa Barbara (garden), Igreja de Santa Cruz (Holy Cross Church), University of Minho Rectory, Braga Cathedral (Se, the oldest in Portugal, 1070), and the Arco da Porta Nova (arch of the new gate) which was once the entrance to the medieval walled city.
We hope you appreciate our videos as they are all our own original footage.
Filmed in 4K resolution for best quality.
