On this week’s episode of UNBOUND: Saybrook Insights, we again feature the Saybrook University President’s Symposium on Integrative Mental Health. Trent Nguyen, Ph.D., and Stephen Brown, Ed.D., break down the differences between burnout and secondary trauma, show how to recognize symptoms of both phenomena, and provide strategies to alleviate those symptoms in yourself and others.
There is a workforce shortage across the U.S. in integrative mental health. Saybrook University recently hosted the President’s Symposium on Integrative Mental Health to address this pressing issue. The symposium highlighted the escalation of suicide and violence in America, the lack of access to mental health services in disadvantaged communities, and the benefits of integrative care. Presenters also made recommendations to address both the current mental health crisis and the ongoing community conditions that exacerbate mental illness.
