The Non Conventional Water Resources (NCWR) Programme designed a stormwater management system which collects runoff water from the narrow streets of the settlement and directs it to a large reservoir installed for storage. With multiple outlets installed in the reservoir, locals can use this water to irrigate their small orchards where they grow their vegetables and water their livestock as well as their beehives.
The NCWR Programme in the Mediterranean is designed and implemented by the regional organization Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med), with the support of the Coca-Cola Foundation, and in partnership with local and national authorities and the Coca-Cola Company and its bottlers in Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta
