Aigues Mortes is a memorable place to visit. It is a commune in the Gard department in the Occitanie region of southern France. It has a remarkable medieval heritage from the 13th and 14th centuries, which includes amazingly intact historical monuments like the Tower of Constance (la tour de Constance), the Ramparts (les remparts d'Aigues-Mortes) and its fortified gates. Visitors can also visit the surrounding Camargue and the Salin salt marches. Camargue is the largest river delta in western Europe with an exceptional biodiversity from its flora and fauna (including the Camargue Gardoise Bull and Camarge Horses) and beautiful beaches. At the Salins and its pink sea waters (from the preponderance of pink algae called Duanaliella salina), there are many pink flamingoes, a treat for the nature lover!
