First built in 1893, this enormous structure was a beach resort, dance and entertainment hall, carnival, and amusement park. The original burned down some time before WWII and was rebuilt after but closed again in the 1950's. It was the place to be in its hayday with trains running residents of Salt Lake City out to its salty shores every 45 minutes! The train line, cars, power poles, and most of the existing structure are gone today.
I wanted to get out there and explore what was left. This is what I captured of the remains of The Great Saltair. If you'd like to see original Super8 footage of the second fire that decimated this place, here's the link:
