Dante King, a Detroit Waldorf School Alumni parent, played the role of St. Michael who had the courage to tame the dragon (played by children in Grades 1-8). This seasonal festival symbolizes a creative imagination that we all have the courage to tame our inner dragon and the strength to shine our lights during the cold winter months to come.
The festival of Michaelmas is celebrated on Sept. 29 in Waldorf schools around the world, symbolizing the true meaning of the autumn seaon.There are many different stories that have been told of St. Michael and the Dragon, each one depicting the warmth of the heart and the strength of the will to overcome the greatest of challenges presented to us in our soul. It represents the gifts of warmth and strength within during the cold months ahead.
