Prior to her appearance at the Bluebell Railways Giants of Steam Gala this weekend, Clan Line ran another Belmond duty to Bath and Bristol on a sunny but windy morning.
The chosen location for this run was the new bridge at Feltham. Over the past couple of years the state of Feltham has changed. Originally with a level crossing where this new bridge was built, the crossing was closed and removed in 2019, with the roads diverted away. The removal of the level crossing was due to it always being down more than up, with trains overhanging over the crossing whenever stopped in the station, and was a hotspot for misuse by traffic as a result. With the crossings removal, platform extentions could be made and are visible when compared to the original platforms, allowing trains to now fit in the station. There was also a smaller footbridge shortly after the crossing, which many including myself filmed from, but this was also removed, resulting in this new bridge, which gives a nice view of the station and in the other direction further up, being built in its place.
With the sun on my side, and taking the surprise of the morning commuters, Clan Line steams past heading towards Reading where it would join the GWML to head to Bath and finally, Bristol.
