Audi has launched a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version of its facelifted 2020 Q7 SUV, dubbed the '60 TFSI e'.

Unlike the outgoing Q7 e-tron, which paired a V6 turbo-diesel with a plug-in electric system, the new 60 TFSI e pairs a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 with a 100kW electric motor and 17kWh battery pack – much like the related Bentley Bentayga Hybrid and Porsche Cayenne e-Hybrid.

System outputs are rated at a hefty 449bhp (335kW) and 700Nm, with drive sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Overseas outlets claim an 'estimated' 0-100 sprint in around 6.0 seconds, with top speed rated at 150mph (241km/h).


If you don't need all that power, European customers will also have the choice of the 55 TFSI e, which uses the same basic powertrain setup tuned to deliver a combined 375bhp (280kW).

Meanwhile, the 17kWh battery remains unchanged compared to the previous diesel-electric e-tron, at least in terms of capacity, and claims to offer 'at least' 26 miles (42km) of pure electric driving per charge. Using a 7kW home charge system, the Q7 60 TFSI e's battery can be replenished in around 2.5 hours.
Being a hybrid, the Q7 60 TFSI e offers a trio of model-specific drive modes that tailor the electrified powertrain to the user's tastes – Hybrid, EV, and Charge Hold.

The Virtual Cockpit display and infotainment system also get unique menus and displays to show hybrid content, including charge levels, range maps, and power meters.

Pricing in the UK starts from around £67,000 ($122,362) for the entry-level 55 TFSI e, with high-spec versions of the 60 TFSI e to kick off from around £75,000 ($136,973).
