Redbox filed for bankruptcy in early July of 2024 which ended alucrative 15+ year business venture but are we ready to call it “Deadbox” yet, as a society? Redbox picked up the slack in the physical media rental market in the early 2000s after video store kingpins such as Blockbuster, Hollywood Video and Video Update went out of business. Recently, these kiosks have sat at local store fronts all across the United States abandoned and ignored, waiting fore the retailers to pay to recycle them. Luckily, for long time movie fanatics like myself, there is still hope as some of these Redbox kiosks are fully powered and still working (kind of). I went to a local Redbox kiosk to test this theory and I think you'll be shocked by my findings.
