One person has died and another was injured after a shooting in east Charlotte Sunday. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating the deadly shooting.
Around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, the shooting happened on Eastway Drive near the intersection with North Tryon Street.
Officers responding to the 911 call found two people had been shot. MEDIC and paramedics took the victims to nearby hospitals for treatment.
One of the two people died due to his injuries on Monday. His identity will be released once his family has been notified. The other person has non-life-threatening injuries, according to CMPD.
In an incident report, CMPD originally referred to one of the two people as a "suspect" in the shooting. In the most recent news release issued by the department, CMPD referred to both individuals as "victims."
