Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, we witnessed unprecedented learning losses for children because of the prolonged school closures. Education was seriously disrupted. The road to recovery for the education sector is not linear but we are on the right track.
In response to the global crisis, UNICEF with funding from the Government of Ireland supported the Government of Uganda and Ministry of Education to mitigate learning losses using the abridged curriculum in Karamoja.
Quality education remains one of UNICEF's top priority to ensure every child is supported so they return to school, smoothly reintegrate and catch up on lost learning.
