Chapaev division of the Red Army repeatedly inflicted defeat to White Guard and Ural White Cossacs. However, on 5 September 1919 squad of Cossack Colonel Sladkov suddenly attacked the headquarters of Chapaev division, stationed in the city of Lbischensk. The staff was crushed, Vasily Ivanovich Chapaev was killed. This success has not stopped the retreat of the White troops. Ural Cossacks were broken and, eventually, went in Persia.
The famous Soviet film "Chapayev" was shot in 1934. In 1935 Stalin restored the rank of officer in the Red Army. Were formed Cossack cavalry divisions and corps, restored the system of military Cossack training.
