Patrick Prendergast is President & Provost of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. He was elected by academic staff and student representatives as the 44th Provost of Trinity College Dublin, coming into the office on August 1st, 2011.
Since coming into office as Provost, Dr Prendergast has strengthened Trinity’s reputation as a university of global consequence, known for realizing student potential and for research and scholarship that benefits Ireland and the world.
As Provost, he has given strength and passion to issues of sustainability and ecology within the university, and has driven access to education for non–traditional students. Under his leadership the university has seen an increase in financial sustainability, student resources and reputation … and underneath this success, Dr Prendergast has led with a passion to see the university be a positive community of learning and active social transformation.
