Charles III was crowned the King of United Kingdom at Westminster Abbey following his anointment, in a lavish coronation ceremony built on ancient traditions. The Archbishop of Canterbury crowned the King, placing the 360-year-old St Edward’s Crown on the monarch’s head as he sat upon a 14th century throne, news agency Reuters reported. The King had taken the solemn oath to govern the people of the United Kingdom with “justice and mercy” and to foster an environment where people of all faiths and beliefs can live freely, soon after he arrived at Westminster Abbey along with Camilla, the queen consort.
