4K Walking Tour of Kovatchevitsa, Bulgaria
It is located in the southwestern part of Bulgaria in the embrace of the Rhodope mountain at 1050 attitude. Kovatchevitsa is an old village dated from 16th century and is established during the attempts of conversion to Mohammedanism of the Bulgarian population in the Rhodope mountain, which settled in the more unreachable parts of the mountain in search of salvation. In 1977 the village was declared a historical and architectural reservation. The local population is currently no more than 50 people.
