0:00 - The Problem
When using one of the tools in Sculpt mode, frequently nothing happens. This is often the result of insufficient topology. In other words, there aren't enough faces to push around.
0:26 - Solution 1: Dyntopo
With Dyntopo active, new topology is automatically generated when sculpting. The Detail Size option controls the fineness of the automatically created mesh.
0:54 - Solution 2: Remesh
The Remesh option recalculates the entire topology. The Voxel Size option controls the fineness of the generated mesh.
1:24 - Bonus Tip: Shading
With an object selected in Object mode, right mouse clicking will bring up a menu that allows for the shading method to be changed.
