Affinity Designer – cutting a hole in the shape with another shape in Affinity Designer. The other day I saw in the Facebook group for affinity designer someone was asking how you take shape and use it like a cookie-cutter in another shape. You make it so that the shape on top opens up a space within the shape underneath. You have it so that you can see through the hole created into the background behind.
Using the XOR tools within Affinity Designer this is a really easy job. In this video I create an odd shape using the Add tool in the XOR tools to join three shapes together. I then take an elliptical shape to place over the top of the shape and select it and the shape I made previously. All I need to do then is to select the Subtract Tool to cut the hole into the shape. Instead of having two separate shapes we now have one shape with an extra hole in it.
In this video I also show how to use the align tool to align three shapes so they are vertically aligned.
