Northrop Grumman conducted a full-scale static fire test of the first stage of the OmegA launch vehicle in Promontory, Utah, on 30 May 2019, at 19:05 UTC. Update : According to Northrop Grumman, the test was successful, the motor performed nominally, the observed behaviour of the aft exit cone of the nozzle will be investigated.
OmegA is the company’s new intermediate/heavy-class rocket for national security missions. OmegA first stage, named Castor 600, fired for 122 seconds and produced more than two million pounds of thrust.
