In the summers of 2013 and 2014, National Geographic grantee Charline Couchoux and a team of scientists fitted chipmunks with tiny microphones in southern Quebec, Canada. After attaching mics to the chipmunks' necks, they left the area for a full 24 hours to make sure their presence did not influence the results. The recordings revealed some unique attributes of chipmunk behavior.
