Preventing Glare on Your Optics I Greg McHale's Wild Yukon
No matter how good your optics and your eyes are, glare from the sun creates serious challenges for every hunter. While the intensity of glare will depend on the position of the sun relative to your optics (height and horizontal angle), we all encounter this at one time or another. This video describes a few simple tricks to reduce glare and improve your glassing experience. While you may wish to tough out the conditions, eye strain and fatigue caused by glare will reduce your ability to keep glassing or cause you to miss game you would otherwise find.

The first tip is to use the built-in sunshade on your spotting scope. Most spotting scopes are equipped with a sunshade, so this is the time to use it (it will also protect your optics from rain).
The next tip is to use your ball cap to completely cover the eyepiece. This dramatically reduces the strain on your eyes. Your cap will also work as a stabiliser for your binoculars, improving your seated and standing binocular glassing.
