In 1992, a Russian Submarine Surfaced Under a US Submarine.
On February 11th, 1992, the Los Angeles-class submarine Baton Rouge was just 14 miles away from Russia. She was keeping a close eye on Russian naval activities known as Operation Holy Stone. At 8:16 p.m, the USS Baton Rouge was hit by something "BIG!" It struck her from below. The nuclear-powered attack submarine's hull was scratched. Well, the Russian nuclear-powered submarine K-276 Kostroma was lurking beneath the USS Baton Rouge. When the Kostroma made an attempt to surface beneath the US submarine, both subs collided. Kostroma's conning tower was shattered with Baton Rouge badly damaged, and her tiles got lodged into Kostroma's hull.
