The KMT''s referendum proposal on tackling air pollution has gotten the green light and will be held on Nov. 24 in conjunction with the local elections. This referendum proposal has been marred by controversy since it was submitted to the CEC for verification. The CEC found irregularities including a statistically abnormal 2% of signatures coming from dead people. The commission says it will take legal action over the forged signatures. Today at the Legislative Yuan, KMT lawmaker Lu Shiow-yen accused the CEC of inflating the number of falsified signatures. Her allegation drew an immediate and strenuous protest from CEC Chairperson Chen In-chin.
