Mikhail Lermontov is the second most famous poet in Russia, after Alexander Pushkin whom I talked about last week. So today, I will tell you all about Lermontov, his life, his masterpiece, A Hero of Our Time, which is perhaps the best study of male psychology and the paradox of masculinity. It asks the fundamental question why life is so contradictory? At the end I will also read one of Lermontov’s most famous poems. Lermontov was also a great artist. Throughout the video, I will be using his paintings as visuals.
