The money game of private hospitals. Private hospitals in India have become machines that print money, treating the patient as a product and his family as a client. As soon as you go to these hospitals, the first thing you are given is a rate card. And then the game of throw the money and watch the show begins. After a four-year investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI), it was revealed that private hospitals in Delhi-NCR charge more room rent from patients than five star hotels. Even for MRI, X-RAY and Ultrasound, prices are charged many times higher than the market. A man went to Fortis Hospital for his wife's delivery. The estimated bill there was said to be Rs. 1.25 lakh. After the operation, Rs 200 was charged for just 5 diapers. Kidney operation of a patient from Delhi was done for Rs 68 thousand, but two lakh rupees were spent in getting the infection treated. In fact, these hospitals earn crores of rupees by looting the patients. This is not just an out-of-the-air report, but a study by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revealed how these hospitals are offering rooms at prices more expensive than Shree, four and five star hotels and at prices many times higher than the market rate.
