Shimla/ Ahmedabad, March 18 (ANI): Unseasonal rains and snowfall is creating havoc in Shimla. Prolonged downpour in the upper areas has damaged crops and destroyed roads and electricity poles. The heavy western disturbance has resulted in precipitation reaching up to 500 per cent. Weather department of the hill state forecasts a prolonged winter in days to come. District administration has asked Public Works Department (PWD), agricultural department and other government divisions to submit reports on losses incurred in their respective fields. A memorandum of losses to the tunes of over rupees 800 crore has been submitted to the Central government of India. Meanwhile in Ahmedabad city, rainfall and hailstorm destroyed wheat crops, landing farmers in heavy losses.
