Pharmacy teams that work in care homes to make sure residents get the most from the medication they take have been shown to improve care, reduce the risk of harm from medicines, and improve the quality of life for residents.
To ensure more care home residents benefit from this care NHS England has released funding to each Integrated Care System (ICS) to enable them to recruit pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and put teams in place.
