Vaas is alive in Far Cry 6. But didn't we kill him in the 3rd game?

Ubisoft decided it would be a great idea to retcon his death to sell us another DLC. Internet says that Jason killed him in the narcotic trip provoked when Vaas stabbed the main protagonist with a poisoned knife. All of the things that we see after this is just a hallucination.
