Nitin Gadkari is aiming to make India’s infrastructure the best in the world. But will he be able to achieve this?
During the World Tunnel Day 2024 conference, Nitin Gadkari stated that PM Modi wants to make India the third-largest economy.
However, to achieve this, working on India’s infrastructure is crucial.
Talking about India’s infrastructure, Nitin Gadkari shared that NHAI is currently working on 75 tunnel projects across the country.
The total length of these tunnels is 146 kilometers.
The government is spending ₹49,000 crore to complete these projects.
Before this, NHAI had already completed 35 tunnel projects with a total length of 49 kilometers.
The cost of these projects was approximately ₹20,000 crore.
However, Nitin Gadkari believes that tunnels are not just important for roads but also for metro, railway, and hydro projects.
That’s why NHAI is planning to start 78 more tunnel projects soon.
These projects will have a total cost of ₹1.1 lakh crore.
Their combined length will be 285 kilometers, presenting a great opportunity for all contractors in India.
