On the night of July 25/26, 1964, Andy Warhol shot his 8-hour film "Empire" from the 41st floor of the Time Life Building in New York City. I shot my version on the night of July 25/26, 2012, from a rooftop in Brooklyn. Both films begin around 8 pm, shortly before dusk, with shooting wrapping up around 2 am the next day. As with most of Warhol's silent films, the footage is played back at a slower speed than it was recorded, accounting for the final 8-hour run time.
