HIGHLIGHTS FROM TODAY'S SHOW:
Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in different communities across Trinidad on Tuesday 08th November, 2022 into the early hours on Wednesday 09th November, 2022.
• Some of the areas that were affected by flood are: Penal; Fyzabad; Chin Chin Main Road; Chase Village; Sangre Grande; Cumuto; Esmeralda; Freeport; Caparo; Debe; Couva; Claxton Bay, Gasparillo and Barrackpore.
Fire officers rescued three (3) families that were trapped in their homes by raging flood waters at Carli Bay in Couva on Wednesday 09th November 2022.
• Around 7:00am, officers of the Couva Fire Station anchored a line and went through the flood waters to help the families.
• They were also assisted by four young men within the community.
• This is reportedly the second time for the year that the fire service saved residents from being trapped in flood.
The Carolina bridge in Couva collapsed due to heavy rainfall on Wednesday 09th November 2022.
• Rudranath Indarsingh, the Couva South MP visited the area and said the bridge has officially collapsed, leaving residents of Springvale, Claxton Bay, Mt. Pleasant Road, Carolina Trace Nos. 1&2, Forres Park, Milton, Lower Carolina and other communities heavily affected and even marooned.
• MP Indarsingh, added that he wrote countless letters over the past several months begging the ministry of local government to repair the bridge as it is used as a main route.
• He is now calling for the urgent installation of a bailey bridge while construction of a permanent structure is arranged.
A school boy was reportedly injured after a piece of concrete slab fell on his head at San Juan North Secondary School in Bourg Mulatresse on Tuesday 4th October, 2022.
• Following the incident, some students were transferred to St. George’s College by the ministry of education while others remained at the school.
• According to a parent, since the incident, students from forms 1,2 and 3 have not been able to attend school.
A pensioner reportedly committed suicide in Tunapuna on Tuesday 08th November, 2022.
• The man was identified as 66-year-old Sookdeo Ramsarran, of Ramjohn Street, Pasea Main Road, Tunapuna.
• Around 5:40pm Ramsarran was found by a relative hanging from a rafter in his room.
• The woman, who reportedly takes Ramsarran’s meal to him daily knocked on the door, when she got no answer, she opened the door and found his body hanging from a rafter.
An accident in Laventille has claimed the life of a woman early Tuesday morning:
• Elesha lewis died after the vehicle she was a passenger in lost control in the vicinity of the Fernandez compound along the eastern main road yesterday morning.
• She was said to be one of the occupants pinned inside of the vehicle. The other was thrown on the roadway.
Three men were expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today charged with the murders of a St James couple:
• The men were arrested on Friday during a joint police exercise involving officers from the western division task force and the homicide bureau. They were questioned, following which they were placed on identification parades.
• Yesterday, officials at the office of the director of public prosecutions gave instructions to charge the three men with four offences, including the murders of 30-year-old Korey Clarke and 30-year-old Samantha Patrick.
