International Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) collaboration and innovative open science approach underpinned the international response that contributed to the development of COVID-19 vaccines and therapies. International STI co-operation could also help address global environmental challenges, such as climate change and biodiversity loss, by pooling limited domestic STI resources, promoting knowledge exchange, and diffusion of green technologies. This session discussed the challenges and opportunities that international collaboration creates for green innovation, and the key lessons learnt from international STI collaboration efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
