Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has announced he is running for president in 2020. Within the first 24 hours of his announcement, he raised $5.9 Million from over 223,000 individuals.
Sanders who is being billed at as one of the Democratic front-runners for 2020 is being criticized for his remarks about identity politics.
In a recent interview with Vermont Public Radio , Sanders said, "We have got to look at candidates, you know, not by the color of their skin, not by their sexual orientation or their gender and not by their age. I mean, I think we have got to try to move us toward a non-discriminatory society which looks at people based on their abilities, based on what they stand for."
