Air is blown through a tube with a varying diameter. By the continuity equation, the velocity of the air must be greater in the small section of the tube than in the larger section. By Bernoulli's Principle, the pressure will be lowest where the air speed is highest, so the liquid level in the tube rises highest where the tube diameter is smallest.
