In 1996 a Canadian team led by Captain Steve Nierlich competed in the bi-annual William Tell aerial gunnery competition. Pitted against several US teams, Capt. Steve "Bunt" Nierlich came out on top to claim the title TOP GUN.

Captain Steven Nierlich is now a Canadian in Australia making him a Canadian Expat as well.

The video follows Captain Nierlich from growing up in Ontario, High School in Brock township, entrance to the Royal Military College of Canada and eventual Royal Canadian Air Force, the William Tell and finally his career with Top Aces and now as a Canadian Abroad in Australia.

Much like in Top Gun Maverick, this Canadian Top Gun chose the path to teach future Top Guns.
