Thanks for watching my latest woodturning video. Don’t forget to like, comment, share and subscribe. Really helps me out!
In this video I turn a classic vase from a piece of very spalted Cherry wood I picked up off the ground in the woods at my parent’s house in Ohio. I’m not sure how long it had been lying on the ground, but I’m guessing a pretty long time. It was spalted more than any piece of wood I’ve ever worked with, but that gave it great figuring.
Because of the level of splatting and decay, I had to stabilize it using Cactus Juice resin which involves soaking it in the resin in a vacuum chamber and then cooking the wood to make the resin harden. It ending up finishing very hard and smooth.
The vase has a great natural crack that I think really adds character to the piece as a whole.
Many of my pieces are for sale at my Etsy shop: [ Ссылка ].
