What is ngapi? (ငါးပိ)
Ngapi is the Burmese version of shrimp paste that is ubiquitous within South East Asian cuisine. It is known as Belacan in Malaysia, glambo in Goa, Kapi in Thailand, Mắm tôm in Vietnam, and the Vietnamese version is called Bagoong alamang.
It can be made of either fermented fish or fermented shrimps, and is used to add flavour to curries and dishes.
