Famous for his slicked-back silver hair and perfect diction, John Bacon was popular on television screens in the East of England from the 1960s until the early 1990s.
He was the longest serving newsreader on About Anglia and Anglia News. He joined ITV from the BBC in 1964 and apart from a break in the 1970s he was on screen until 1991.
