The A487 is one of Wales's most important north-south roads, running the entire length of the country along the west coast for 174 miles/280km from Haverfordwest/Hwlffordd in south Wales to the city of Bangor in north Wales. It connects to St Davids/Tyddewi, the UK's smallest city in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and Aberystwyth, the university town in mid-Wales. North of Machynlleth the road enters the Snowdonia National Park/Eyryi, and merges with the A470 for a while. The road re-emerges in the north near Porthmadog and terminates on the A5 at the famous Menai Suspension Bridge in Bangor.
This video shows a northbound journey along the A487, from the junction with the B4583 to the north of the city of St Davids/Tyddewi, to the junction with the B4330 at Croes-Goch, much of which is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
