SUMMARY:
Follow along with Wondermaker as he takes us through five of Ovid's Roman versions of Greek myths, this film gives the story of Actaeon, Orpheus and Eurydice, Herse and Aglauros, Perseus and Medusa, and Phaëton.
This out-of-print movie was a flop in the early 80's, but I loved watching this film over and over on my Beta Max. The combination of the disco music, choppy cartoon animation, and cheerful narration over an overall gloomy set of stories were magical. I am glad I was able to find this and find a way to preserve it for future viewers!
HISTORY:
Originally released as "Metamorphoses" in 1978. A year later the film was reissued as "Winds of Change" with 7 minutes cut from the original film and disco music composed by Alec R. Costandinos. Additionally, they added narration from Peter Ustinov. The star of the movie is the boy named "Wondermaker".
This is THAT version and the one I remembered from my childhood.
