Please note: One of the mountains in the distance is Cerro San Luis. I personally call that mountain "Madonna Mountain". There are many who will point out that the "M" on the mountain is in reference to Mission Prep High School. There are also many who have personal feelings regarding the Madonna family who own a sizable portion of the mountain. I have always called the mountain Madonna Mountain. It doesn't matter what popular belief of the name of the mountain. To be very technical, I doubt the Native Americans called it Cerro San Luis. That was a name given by the Spanish who came to the area long after the Chumash Indians lived here. The name of the mountain is a long-lived controversy. You may call it any name that you would like. Again, I personally call it Madonna Mountain, and that will not change. Sorry for those who are offended by that decision.
