Brent Mason is one of the titans of the Nashville studio scene who's impact on the "Nashville Sound" cannot be overstated. His versatile and ear-catching guitar work has helped define the works of some of the greatest Country Music Artists of all time, including, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Trisha Yearwood, Shania Twain, Brooks & Dunn, Randy Travis and Blake Shelton among many, others. In part 1 of our Truetone Lounge interview Mason tells of his early years in Ohio, his move to Nashville, and how Chet Atkins helped launch his career by having him guest on his Stay Tuned album in 1985. Brent also discusses the shift from pristine "direct" guitar tones in the 80's, to earthier "amp" tones in the early 90's. Watch for part 2, where we continue his story from the mid-1990's to today.
