Kamala Harris will certify Donald Trump’s presidential election victory in the Senate today, four years on from the January 6 riots.

A Senate vote, effectively a rubber-stamping process that follows November’s election, is expected to pass off without incident. That would be a stark contrast to the situation four years ago, when Trump’s supporters tried to interrupt the same process.
They burst into the building that houses the Senate and the House of Representatives in an attempt to stop Mike Pence, Trump’s vice-president, declaring Biden the winner of the election.
