An earthquake measuring 5.3 in magnitude shook South Africa on Sunday night.
The tremors occurred at 02:51 local time.
The epicentre was in the Northern Cape Province at a depth of 10 km, 101 km from the town of Brandvlei.
Strong vibrations were felt within a radius of several dozen kilometres.
The earthquake was felt as far away as Cape Town.
