End of an era... it was heavily rumoured 6 months ago but now it has been confirmed that Piranha Bytes are no more.

This studio was responsible for some of my favourite games, in particular Gothic 1, 2, Risen 1 & Elex.

They made other games that I didn't list above and that was really the reason for their closure, inconsistency and a habit of taking one step forward and two steps back. Unfortunately, current economic realities make it very hard for small studios to survive after even one flop, Embracer Group shenanigans aside.

Hopefully we get spiritual successors to Gothic in the future, although these were games with zero political correctness or any modern nonsense so that may be a tough ask...
