Pembrey Country Park in Carmarthenshire is an idyllic place. Surrounded by lush woodlands and a 7 mile stretch of sandy beach that any Caribbean resort would be proud of, Pembrey is a must for a few days away. We stayed in the main campsite, not the one situated just outside the park which belongs to the CMHC. The CMHC site is around 20 minutes further from the beach than the parks own campsite. Pitches include, seasonal, serviced, EHU and non EHU. We always opt for non EHU as these pitches are usually more isolated. Each pitch is at least 10m x 10m, so plenty of room for awnings and windbreaks. The site caters for Motorhomes, Campers, Caravans and Tents, although we never see many people camping.
The site has lovely clean facilities with ample provision for the site. Showers and toilets are split into 2 blocks and each is kept very clean. Elson points are also located next, or near the facilities.
The site has a restaurant serving a great menu of pizzas, burgers and everything you would expect from an on site restaurant. They have a tourist information center next door to the restaurant, where you can also book additional nights.
The Wardens need a very special mention. They are amazing. Nothing is too much bother and they will do everything they can to ensure your stay is a memorable one.
Pembrey has many attractions, some can be seen in our video. These include a dry ski slope, toboggan run, bike hire, BMX track and more. They even have their own steam railway providing trips around its own dedicated track. The campsite and Park have their own children's play areas and the park has a 9 hole golf course and a crazy golf course. There is plenty to keep everyone happy.
But the jewel in the crown is the beach. The beach is 7 miles long and is constantly awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness. I have visited the beach many times and if you are a dog owner, we have our on dedicated area of beach which is accessible 52 weeks of the year. You will see from my footage, the open space is incredible.
For me and my dogs, the park is an excellent place.
