Digital Public Goods (DPGs) have been identified as crucial for attaining sustainable development goals across countries. Hence, there is an increased interest and drive at country level for adopting DPGs. However, one major factor considered by governments and organizations prior to adopting a DPG is the sustainability DPG. This necessitates the due attention of DPG producers and the communities to ensure sustainability of the product and the implementations.
In this session, we will first focus on how the sustainability of DPGs is viewed from the perspective of DPG Alliance. We will then explore sustainability through a lens of dhis2, a mature DPG. This will be followed by a presentation from the Aapti Insititute deep diving in to the topic of building capacity, a major component of ensuring sustainable implementation. Finally, we will have a panel discussion where we will listen to experts involved in advocacy, implementation, and governance of DPGs from development partners, ministries, and organizations supporting implementations.
