As the temperatures plummeted toward the end of January into February and we hit that mid ice lull where our favorite warm water fish start to get a little tight lipped, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try my hand at targeting some trout through the ice! A good friend was supposed to join me to show me how it’s done but he wasn’t able to make it out but was gracious enough to pass along some tips which I put into action to land my first trout through the ice! It was a slow day all around but that just made the success that much sweeter! Don’t be afraid to step out of that comfort zone and try something new!
